Why Your Brain is like the Universe

Bojangles Stair Dance, 1932

Isn’t it funny that these weird sounds we can make with our mouths ever became something that implies meaning? Sort of like how if you say your name too many times and it becomes inane?

Don’t you think humanity’s first misstep in figuring out what it means to be conscious was assuming theology and science needed to be separate ideas?Sort of like how modern medicine seems to only be grasping that there is no natural distinction between mind and body, what if the divide between these two fields was only ever manufactured, and that seemingly random decision has damned us to never really truly understand either?

Let me introduce you to my personally curated Museum of the Absurd. Click through the links below, and see if it doesn’t get you into the mindset that anything might be possible. It might even all just be a simulation.

The Power of 10, produced by IBM in 1977. I know it is old, but it is short, and it gives a truly terrifying yet somehow exhilarating view of the universe, the likes of which I have yet to see done similarly.
A short video explaining what it would be like if we could perceive the world in four dimensions
A compelling theory that the world we perceive is more than likely nothing like we think.
Joseph Cornell, artist
A short visualization of the days of your life as counted in jelly beans.

If only.

The world might actually just be a game of pong, but I prefer to think of it as a beloved game my son and I played circa 2014–2016 called Goat Simulator. In January of 2016, we spent 36 hours trying to get our goat to fall down a chute that would transform it into a bouncing, bulbous jersey cow.

For today: Enjoy yourself, it’s later than you think.
